Adala
has started his activities regarding the reform of the justice and the
right to a fair trial in 2006. Since then Adala has been able to realise
the following:
1.
To develop an infrastructure
2.
To organise an international
conference on “the independence of the judiciary in Morocco in the light
of international norms an the experience of the Mediterranean Area” in
Rabat on February 2-4, 2006;
3.
To publish the records of
this conference;
4.
To organise a national
conference on “the implementation of the recommendations of the IER” in
Rabat on July 21-22, 2006 (which included the fundamental points of the
reform of the justice), the CCDH has been invited and has presented a
paper regarding his follow up of the recommendations of the IER
5.
To publish the records of
this conference in Arabic
6.
To establish good relations with the Moroccan NGOs and some
international NGOs (CIJ, HRW, the Union of the magistrate in France and
Algeria, the Algerian League for the Defence of
Human Rights …) and with the Moroccan
authorities (Ministry of Justice, The Hassanian Association of judges…)
7.
To organise two training
workshops for journalists and lawyers about “ journalists before the
courts”
8.
To publish a guide for
journalists and layers in Arab and French
9.
To organise two workshops
about “Trial observation”
10.
To publish a guide about
“Trial observation” for lawyers and human rights defenders
11.
To organise a national
dialogue about the recommendations of the first conference that Adala
has organised but also about the other recommendations concerning the
reform of the justice
12.
To organise a national
conference about the media and the administration and the right to
access to information in Marrakech on May 25-27, 2007
13.
To publish the records of
this conference in Arab and French
14.
To create the homepage
www.justicemaroc.org
15.
To organise two round tables
about the execution of judgements in the presence of the actors
(Ministry of Justice, Moroccan NGOs, lawyers, bailiffs etc.)
16.
To organise a round table
about “ Which methodology to prepare an annual report about justice”, a
paper has been written by the rapporteur (which shows that we need a
financing for this important work)
17.
To organise a national
conference about the reform of the magistrate in Morocco in December
6-7, 2007, in cooperation with Transparency Morocco and the Moroccan
Association for the Defence of the Independency of the judiciary.
18.
Adala has submitted
statements on notorious violations of the right of a fair trial and has
organised protest activities with the Moroccan NGOs regarding important
subjects like the violation of the freedom of the press and the
situation in the prisons
